Reacting to the proposed ‘yatra’ of the BJP against drugs in Punjab, Warring said, it is indeed a fact that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has not only failed to curb the drugs, but has added to the problem. Sewerage Line Tender Issued for Hallomajra
Chandigarh 8 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has taken an important step towards resolving the long-pending sewerage problem in Hallomajra, Ward No. 20, particularly near Kheda Mandir. The Municipal Corporation has re-invited tenders for laying and installation of a 10-inch I/D SW pipeline, construction of manholes, and other related works. The estimated cost of the project is ₹12,65,997, with a stipulated completion period of two months. It is pertinent to mention that on Monday, Social Worker Arvind Singh, along with former Sarpanch Tejinder Singh, met the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and apprised him of various public issues in Hallomajra, including the sewerage line problem. During the meeting, they specifically requested that the long-pending sewerage work be taken up and started at the earliest.
The Commissioner took the matter seriously and assured that prompt action would be taken. The very next day, the Municipal Corporation re-invited the tender for the work. The prompt response of the Municipal Corporation has brought a sense of relief and happiness among the residents of the area. As per the tender, the estimated cost of the work is ₹12,65,997, with an EMD of ₹25,320 and a tender fee of ₹1,000. The last date for submission of the tender is September 15, 2026, up to 3:00 PM, while the tender will be opened on the same day at 3:30 PM.
Social Worker Arvind Singh said that the sewerage line work had remained pending for a considerable period, causing inconvenience to the local residents. He said that during the meeting with the Commissioner, a request was made to resolve the issue on priority. The issuance of the tender the very next day reflects that the Municipal Corporation administration has taken the residents’ concerns seriously.
On behalf of the residents of Hallomajra, Ward No. 20, Arvind Singh expressed his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and said that he hoped the sewerage work would commence on the ground soon after completion of the tender process and would be completed within the stipulated period of two months. He also appealed to the concerned officials of the Municipal Corporation to ensure that the work is started without any unnecessary delay after completion of the tender process, so that the residents can get early relief from the long-standing sewerage problem.
