Tricity to Run for Fitness and Against Cyber Crime; Awareness Campaign on Digital Fraud
Chandigarh 2 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Tricity will soon run not only for fitness but also against the growing threat of digital fraud and cyber crime. The SK Tricity Marathon will be organised on September 27 with the objective of creating awareness among people about online fraud, digital scams and cyber crimes. Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria has given his consent to flag off the marathon. The marathon is being organised by Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha and IIEMR Institute of Event Management, with the support of SK Finance. Organiser Mukesh Mishra said the key objective of the event is to promote a healthy lifestyle while simultaneously sensitising people about the increasing risks of digital fraud and cyber crime.
The marathon will feature different running categories to encourage participation from children, youngsters, senior citizens and fitness enthusiasts. Participants will be able to choose from 3 km, 10 km and 21 km run categories. According to the organisers, the event aims to combine fitness and healthy competition with an important social message on cyber safety, taking awareness about digital fraud to a wider section of society. Ahead of the main marathon, a Promo Run will be organised at the Lake Walkway on September 13. The initiative will encourage people to participate in the marathon while also spreading awareness about digital safety and precautions against online fraud. The organisers are aiming to involve a large number of Tricity residents in the campaign and encourage them to understand basic precautions required to stay safe in the digital environment.
Deepak Sharma, Executive President of Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha Punjab and Chief Coordinator of the event, said that cyber crime has emerged as a challenge affecting people across age groups. He said the marathon is an effort to deliver an important social message while promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The main SK Tricity Marathon will begin from Chandigarh Club on September 27. During the event, participants and the public will be sensitised about preventing digital fraud, staying alert against cyber crime and adopting safe digital practices. The organisers have appealed to people across the Tricity to join the initiative and become part of the awareness campaign with the message: “Run for fitness, run against digital fraud.”
