Bassi Pathana/Chandigarh 6 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence had become a den of corruption in which rapists and gangsters were being given protection for crores of rupees even as Punjabis were suffering. Addressing a mammoth party conference here as part of the SAD’s Punjab Bachao campaign, Sukhbir Badal said “both the chief minister and his wife – Gurpreet Kaur Mann have even stooped to auctioning off the honour of two women of Punjab for Rs five crore”. Asserting that both the chief minister and his wife were involved in freeing a media influencer who was accused of raping two women, Badal said “first five women who had been tormented by the influencer – Guri Chahal approached the chief minister. The CM did not give them justice. When two of the women registered rape cases against Guri Chahal in Amritsar and Mohali, the chief minister’s wife swung into action and started negotiating with the accused. This is not all. The chief minister even called the police heads of Amritsar and Mohali – Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Harmandeep Hans to his residence to explicitly tell them to dilute the case against the rape accused. This finally led to Guri Chahal being freed from jail within two months”.

Asserting that the SAD would ensure justice to the aggrieved women and punishment to all accused, including police officers, Badal said “the case is already unraveling with one of the women appearing in a Mohali court to tell she was not even called by the police before the filing of a cancellation report in the case. “The police have done the same in the case of the Amritsar victim”, he asserted. The SAD president also took on the Waris Punjab De outfit on the occasion, questioning the credentials of its head Amritpal Singh who he said had become a Gursikh only four years back to enter politics. He said Amritpal’s family had staunchly aligned with the Congress for more than 36 years and even opposed the candidature of Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra. Asserting that Waris Punjab De was mixed up with the chief minister, Badal said “the party has not said a single word against Bhagwant Mann till now. They have refused to protest against the manner in which the chief minister’s wife has sought Rs five crore to let off a rape accused”. He also asserted that Bhagwant Mann had sent Dakha mla Manpreet Singh Ayali to Waris Punjab De to strengthen the party and divide Panthic votes. Urging Punjabis to recognize this conspiracy, Badal said “we all should strive to ensure the evil plan to return Punjab back to the era of darkness of the 1980s does not succeed”.

The SAD president also urged Punjabis to strengthen the SAD, saying “central agencies and national parties want to weaken the SAD”. He said following electoral setbacks suffered by the SAD, these forces had captured the managements of Sri Hazur Sahib and Patna Sahib and even broken the Shiromani Committee to create a separate Gurdwara Committee in Haryana. Badal also urged Punjabis to understand Bhagwant Mann’s character. He said after evidence of the chief minister disrespecting the Guru Sahiban by sprinkling alcohol on their picture and urinating on the statute of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala came out in the open the former denied the same when questioned by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said when the Jathedar got the videos examined from top forensic laboratories in the country the video was found to the genuine. “Following this a congregation of Sikh organizations have jointly declared him Guru Dokhi and appealed to Punjabis to shun him”.

Accompanied by Bassi Pathana halka incharge Darbara Singh Guru, the SAD president also announced an action plan which the party would implement once it was elected to power in 2027. “We will ensure not one drop of polluted water enters our rivers to tackle the scourge of cancer. We will channelize all rivers to end the menace of flooding. All farmers who do not have a tubewell connection will be given one immediately after the SAD forms the government”. Mr Badal also announced that farmers would be able to apply for individual ownership of land and all those living in the ‘lal dora’ would be given ownership rights of their plots. He also announced Shagun benefit would be increased to Rs 1 lakh, old age pension to Rs 3,100 and that 50 kg of wheat would be given to ‘aata-daal’ beneficiaries. He also announced youth would be eligible for an Rs 10 lakh interest free loan and that all government jobs would be reserved for Punjabis and that the industry would have to give 75 per cent jobs to Punjabis. He also announced that the government would fix MSP for milk and vegetables. Senior leaders including Balwinder Singh Bhundar, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Sarabjit Singh Jhinjher and Gurpreet Singh Rajukhanna also spoke on the occasion.
