Entry to be free for visitors
Chandigarh 9 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A three-day 'Comedy Theatre Festival-26' will kick off at Kalagram in Chandigarh, tomorrow at 6.30 pm. A brainchild of the North Zone Cultural Centre {NZCC}, Patiala, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, tricity theatre lovers will have a rare opportunity to watch some aesthetically-crafted theme plays, to be retold live by accomplished thespians.
On the inaugural day of the 3-day fiesta of comedy and wit, a hilarious play 'Nek Chor' will be enacted by acclaimed theatre artistes from the Pink City of Jaipur {Rajasthan}, under the direction of the well-known trio Vijay, Kamlesh, and Kalpana. On day two of the festival {Sept 12}, theatre icons from the Central University of Punjab (CUP), Bathinda (Punjab), will stage the iconic play 'Bebe Ghasite Di Natak Mandali', directed by Dr. Adish Kumar Verma, a name to reckon with in the field of direction.*Giving sidelights of the three-day fun-filled fest, the organisers informed that* entry to the event was free, adding that seats were limited available on a first-come-first-served basis. He also informed that the daily timings of plays will be 6.30 pm onwards
The Director, Ashwin M. Dalvi, on the occasion said "I am sure the vibrant three-day Comedy Theatre Festival will bring out the subtle ironies and truths of human life through humour and wit" He said Theatre, especially Comedy, was the most powerful medium of expression, that not only entertains but also holds a mirror to society. Such thematic programmes, he said, were designed to offer a platform to the struggling theatre enthusiasts, as also to connect the younger generation to the soul of folk theatre and other arts through live stage performances.
