Chandigarh 26 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : An important meeting was held at the Community Center, Sector 42, regarding the new door-to-door garbage collection system in Attawa village (Ward No. 24) by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Area Councilor Mr. Jasbir Singh Bunty provided detailed information about the plan to the residents present. The councilor informed that a one-day special camp has been organized by the Municipal Corporation's MoH office. The purpose of this camp is to make any corrections/updates to water meters, floors, shops, and other property details.
The Municipal Corporation has already conducted a door-to-door survey, recording the number of rooms and area. All residents are requested to come to the camp and check their records to avoid any billing errors in the future. The meeting also provided detailed information about the proposed garbage collection fee, which will be as follows: Suggested monthly fee for residential housing:
House up to 125 yards: ₹50 per month
125 yards to 500 yards: ₹100 per month
More than 500 yards: ₹200 per month
Renting out rooms on the upper floor: ₹30 per room per month
Suggested monthly charges for commercial establishments:
General Trade (General Store): ₹100 per month
Dhaba/Small Restaurant: ₹200 per month
Hotel: ₹2000 per month
Residents were informed that this fee is a proposed fee, which will be presented for approval at the Municipal Corporation's House meeting. It will be formally implemented only after approval. After the MOU is signed by the Municipal Corporation, the door-to-door garbage collection service will be initiated, and this service fee will be added to the water bill. On this occasion, Health Supervisor Sandeep Dhankhar (MoH, MC Chandigarh) also appealed for cooperation from citizens. Finally, Councillor Mr. Jasbir Singh Bunty appealed to all respected residents to attend the camp and have their documents verified, to ensure a transparent and systematic garbage collection system.
