Rajya Sabha MP Rajinder Gupta Welcomes Court Verdict Acquitting AAP Leaders in Excise Case

Chandigarh/Punjab 27 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajinder Gupta on Thursday welcomed the judgment of the Rouse Avenue Court, which acquitted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and senior party leader Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In a formal statement issued today, Gupta described the verdict as “a reaffirmation of faith in the rule of law and the strength of India’s judicial institutions.” He said the court’s decision brings clarity to a matter that has remained in public discourse for over two years.

“The judgment underscores the foundational principle that justice must prevail through due process and evidence,” Gupta stated. “This outcome will restore confidence among citizens and party supporters who have steadfastly believed in the integrity of the leadership and the impartiality of the judiciary.” The case, which attracted nationwide attention and intense political debate, marked a significant chapter in contemporary political and legal developments. With the court’s ruling, a major phase of the proceedings initiated by the CBI has now reached its conclusion.

Gupta further expressed hope that the verdict would help shift the focus back to governance, public service, and developmental priorities. He emphasized that democratic institutions function best when due process is respected and judicial decisions are upheld in both letter and spirit. Reiterating his commitment to transparency, accountability, and constitutional values, the Rajya Sabha MP called upon all stakeholders to respect the court’s decision and contribute positively to the democratic process.
