The festival, an initiative of the North Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, which concluded today, was not just a celebration of folk art, but a candid canvas of Haryana’s rich performing arts legacy.
The laidback Sunday evening came alive with a flurry of activity as well-known 'Saangi' Sanjay Malik (and his team) took the centrestage and enlivened the evening with his magnificent performance.
The Saang, titled "Raja Veer Vikramjit Khanderao Pari..." presented by him left the audience awe-struck.The opening verses of the Ragini he rendered were
"Keh ke ulta..." and "Pakad kaleja ron laagi..."
moved the audience deeply, and the entire marquee resonated with the unending sound of applause. It was then the turn of the star performer of the evening, Ramsharan (and troupe),who wowed the audience by unfolding the tale of a kind-hearted Prince, Chanderhaas, in a typical Haryana tradition, besides doling out a Ragini number, depicting the immortal bond of friendship between Lord Krishna and his childhood chum, Sudama. The engaging performance was characterized by both emotional depth and soulful melodious renderings, which earned them a full-throated admiration from the audience. 'Saang' is an ancient tradition of storytelling, which existed long before the advent of TV, the internet, and social media, served as a potent medium of entertainment and raising social awareness among the people at large. Even today, this art form continues to preserve Haryana's rich cultural heritage

The performances stood out as they seamlessly blended the dialogues, music and expression, the hallmark of the 'Saang' tradition. On this occasion, Director, NZCC, Mohd Furqan Khan expressed his deep gratitude to the large number of 'Saang' lovers, for taking out their time to be a part of the event despite the prevailing inclement weather conditions. He thanked the print and electronic media editors for covering the event prominently. I stoutly feel that desperate efforts are required to made to protect and preserve our composite culture legacy by sensatising the youth about their roots."
