Shri Ram Bhandara Committee Celebrates Ram Navami with Devotion by Organizing a Grand Community Bhandara
Chandigarh 26 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami during the Chaitra Navratras, the Shri Ram Bhandara Committee organized a grand community feast (Bhandara) in front of Namdev Bhawan in Sector 21. A large number of devotees partook of the *Prasad* (sacred food offering) at this religious event. The *Bhandara* featured the distribution of *Prasad* consisting of *Desi Ghee* Jalebis, *Desi Ghee* Halwa, black chickpeas, rice, *Kheer*, *Matar Paneer*, chickpea curry, sweet and sour pumpkin curry, and *Puris*, along with *Brahmi* Sherbet. The success of the *Bhandara* was largely due to the special contributions of the Shri Ram Bhandara Committee's convenor, Arun Agarwal; former Mayor and Area Councilor Anup Gupta; I.S. Bansal; Hukum Chand Bansal; Ashok Kukreja; Sumita Kohli; Anu Agarwal; Amita Mittal; as well as Harvinder Pal Singla, AGP-Punjab Shiv Kumar Verma, Keshav Bansal, and Narinder Singla. Additionally, many others joined hands to ensure the success of this religious gathering.
Shri Ram Bhandara Committee President Arun Agarwal stated that Ram Navami is not merely a religious festival, but also an opportunity to recall the ideals of Lord Shri Ram—the embodiment of propriety (*Maryada*), truth, and righteousness (*Dharma*). Ram Navami is regarded as a symbol of the triumph of righteousness and truth. Throughout his life, Lord Ram set the example of an ideal son, an ideal king, and an ideal husband. His life teaches us that, even in the face of difficult circumstances, one must never abandon the path of righteousness and truth. This is precisely why the festival of Ram Navami serves to remind people of moral values.
Arun Agarwal further added that, with the blessings of *Bhole Baba* (Lord Shiva), the Committee organizes a community kitchen (*Langar*) every Saturday in front of Namdev Bhawan. Although this initiative was previously held only on the second Saturday of every month, it is now being organized every Saturday to facilitate the needy and passersby. The *Bhandara* will continue as long as the Lord's boundless grace remains upon us. Social worker Sumita Kohli remarked that Ram Navami is not merely a festival, but a source of inspiration for how to lead one's life. The ideals of Lord Rama remain relevant even today and guide society in the right direction. This day teaches us that an ideal society can be built only by walking the path of truth, righteousness, and propriety.
