Chandigarh 29 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Class-IV Employees Union, Education Department, U.T. Chandigarh, convened a General Body Meeting on April 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Masjid Ground, Sector-20, Chandigarh, to take decisive action regarding certain crucial and pending matters concerning the organization. During this meeting, serious concerns affecting the functioning of the Union and its democratic structure were discussed.
The following points emerged:The post of Union Chairman had remained vacant since 2024, as no elections had been conducted during this period. The tenure of the Union President had expired on March 12, 2026, resulting in a leadership vacuum. An attempt was made on March 13, 2026, to take decisions regarding elections; however, the Executive Committee was not given proper notice of this, a fact that raised several questions regarding transparency and due process.
During the meeting, members discussed these issues in detail and, through mutual consensus, took necessary decisions to restore the Union's democratic functioning, ensure accountability, and strengthen unity within the organization. In the General Body Meeting, in accordance with the Union's constitution, Gaya Prasad was unanimously elected as the Chairman.
The process for the election and nomination of the President will soon be initiated under the chairmanship of the newly elected Chairman,Gaya Prasad and five members committee constituted for election of President; due intimation regarding this will be provided to the concerned offices. The Union appreciated the active participation of its members and reiterated its commitment to unity, transparency, and collective strength as its guiding principles for the future.
