Out of 1,624 polled votes, she received 424, while Parminder Kaur received 425 and was declared the winner. She objected to the counting process with SDM Damandeep Kaur, Shaminder Singh, and others. 1 Lakh Trees to Be Planted in 2026, Says Ritik Arora After Appointment as Punjab State Chairman

Chandigarh 30 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab-based young entrepreneur and social activist Ritik Arora has been appointed as the Punjab State Chairman of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission (an institution operating under process with NITI Aayog, Government of India). On this occasion, Harinder, All India OSD of the Commission, formally presented the appointment letter to Ritik Arora. Several dignitaries and supporters were present at the event, including Ekta Nagpal, Vice President of BJP Mahila Morcha Punjab, and Amit Singh, Member, ZRUCC, Northern Railway, Ministry of Railways, Government of India.

Following his appointment, Ritik Arora announced an ambitious plan to plant one lakh trees across Punjab during 2026. He stated that the initiative would be a major step toward environmental conservation and climate change awareness. The campaign will focus on increasing green cover in both rural and urban areas of the state. Arora also pledged strict action against illegal mining in Punjab. He said surprise inspections and raids would be conducted in riverine areas during late-night and early-morning hours to curb illegal mining activities and protect natural resources.

He further emphasized efforts to make Punjab plastic-free through awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives, and community participation programs aimed at reducing plastic usage and promoting eco-friendly alternatives. Ritik Arora stated that active participation from youth, social organizations , educational institutions, and local communities would be ensured to build a cleaner, greener, and healthier Punjab for future generations.
