The event was graced by Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest. The anniversary celebration brought together eminent citizens, professionals, academicians, artists, policymakers, entrepreneurs and members of civil society to commemorate a year of impactful citizen-led initiatives and to chart the Foundation's vision for the future. Councilor Dharminder Singh Saini submitted a memorandum regarding various problems of village Dariya.
Chandigarh 31 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Under the leadership of Sanjay Tandon, former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chandigarh, and BJP state general secretary Ramvir Bhatti, the problems of all the villages of Chandigarh were placed before Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. During this, issues related to CLU (Change of Land Use) of cultivable lands of the villages and the basic facilities of the villages were discussed in detail. In particular, demands were made for solving the drinking water problem in the villages, providing water connections to the houses built outside the red line, and connecting all the villages of Chandigarh with canal water.
The Administrator was also apprised of the problems of Dariya village. Councillor Dharminder Singh Saini submitted a memorandum to the Chandigarh Administration outlining the various problems of Dariya village. He explained that a significant amount of land in Dariya village has been acquired by the railway station project and the Forest Department. A demand was also raised for the construction of a park on the Forest Department's available land for the convenience of the villagers. Besides, a demand was also made to build a sports complex with sports facilities for children and a community centre for the convenience of the people on about 4-5 acres of vacant corporation land near Nursery T-point near village Dariya.
Administrator Kataria assured that these problems would be resolved soon and necessary action would be taken on priority basis. Present on the occasion were representatives from all the villages of Chandigarh including Didar Singh (Chairman, Khadi Board), Jujhar Singh (Chairman, Cooperative Bank, Chandigarh), Mandeep Singh (President, Kisan Morcha, Chandigarh), MC Chandigarh Councillor Harjeet Singh, Kunwar Rana, Kuljeet Singh, Naresh Panchal (Vice President, BJP Chandigarh) and other dignitaries.
