Fascinating folk dances to mark end to Summer Workshop at Kalagram on June 27
Chandigarh 25 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A high-octave closing ceremony of the ongoing annual summer workshop organized for children by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, will close at Kalagram on June 27 with vibrant folk dances of various states where participants trained under the tutelage of expert mentors in theatre, folk dances of Punjab, Haryana and art and craft workshops, will showcase their talent.
NZCC Programme Officer Rajesh Bakshi stated that the theatre, art and craft and folk dsnces workshops, which went off to a colorful start on June 1, will conclude on June 27 after 25 days, rolling out an opportunity for young minds to learn prominent folk dances of Punjab and Haryana under the watch of expert 'gurus'. The objective of these workshops is to hone the children's creativity and cultural craft, making the best of their summer vacations. *A large number of students* from various Tricity schools and others participated in the specially curated workshop.At the closing ceremony, children dressed in their traditional attires, will present vibrant Punjabi folk dances, including Jhoomer, Sammi, Luddi, Jindua, Giddha, and Bhangra, while those trained in Haryanvi folk dances, will present prominent folk dances of the state, Pakhi and Ghoomer, to be precise, on the occasion. A 40-minute historic play titled "Ahilyabai Holkar," assiduosly prepared by the children, will be staged, besides an exhibition of artworks created during the art and craft workshop will also be among the highlight of the evening.
Bakshi on the occasion said that the guiding aim behind such initiatives was to foster an interest in art, culture, and folk traditions among children and to provide a platform for them to showcase their innate talent to a larger audience. He appealed to parents and art enthusiasts to be a part of the event and encourage participants, the future ambassadors of our pristine heritage of the country
