Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh: Executive Committee Unanimously Decides to Participate in the July 7 Convention
Chandigarh 24 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A meeting of the executive committee of the Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh, was held today, June 24, 2026, under the chairmanship of Federation President Rajendra Katoch. During the meeting, it was decided that members would participate in large numbers in the convention organized by the Joint Employees' Front (Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha). This convention is scheduled for July 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Bhakna Bhawan, Sector 29-D, Chandigarh, to address the demands of employees and workers. While presenting the agenda for the convention, Federation President Gopal Dutt Joshi, President Rajendra Katoch, and General Secretary Harkesh Chand highlighted the key issues to be discussed.
These include: regularizing all daily-wage and contract employees who have completed 10 years of service in a single batch; bringing outsourced employees directly under the Administration or a central government agency (instead of the GeM portal) to ensure job security until retirement; implementing the principle of "equal pay for equal work"; restoring the Old Pension Scheme; promptly filling vacant promotional posts across departments; immediately releasing retirement benefits to retired personnel; revoking the dismissal and retirement orders issued to crèche workers; absorbing employees transferred from the Electricity Department to a private company into other departments; cancelling the decision to hand over Horticulture Department parks and green belts to private societies via MoUs; granting DC rates to Anganwadi, crèche, and mid-day meal workers; and providing uniforms, oil/soap allowances, children's education allowances, and CGHS facilities, as well as raising the ESI and bonus eligibility limit to ₹50,000.
In addition to National Executive members M.M. Subramanyam, Rekha Gora, and Virendra Singh, the meeting was attended by Harpal Singh, Bihari Lal, Ranjit Singh, Tarun Jaiswal, and office-bearers from all affiliated unions. Concluding the meeting, Federation President Rajendra Katoch thanked all the colleagues and appealed to them to make the convention scheduled for July 7, 2026, a success.
