MOH Team Celebrates "Mera Shaher Meri Pehchan" on World Environment Protection Day in Manimajra; Spreads Message of Cleanliness and Environmental Conservation
Saplings Planted at Shivalik Garden, Sector-13, Manimajra Under "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" Campaign
Manimajra/Chandigarh 13 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the occasion of World Environment Protection Day, a special program was organized in the Manimajra area by the MOH (Medical Officer of Health) team of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under the "Mera Shaher Meri Pehchan" (My City, My Identity) campaign. The event was flawlessly executed under the leadership of MOH In-charge Devender Rohilla. Speaking on the occasion, MOH In-charge Devender Rohilla stated that Chandigarh has carved out a distinct identity for itself across India in terms of cleanliness, and maintaining this identity is the collective responsibility of all of us. He emphasized that our city can remain beautiful and clean only when every citizen understands their responsibility.
Providing information on waste management, he explained that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is implementing a system of four types of dustbins for the proper disposal of waste. These include: Dry Waste, Wet Waste, Domestic Hazardous Waste, Sanitary Waste. He appealed to all citizens to segregate their waste before handing it over to the garbage collection staff to help keep the city clean. "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" Campaign Launched : In line with environmental protection goals, the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign was launched with a plantation drive at Shivalik Garden, Sector-13, Manimajra. Prominent citizens and social workers of the city participated enthusiastically in this initiative.Addressing the gathering, Devender Rohilla said: "Together, we can save our deteriorating environment. We must not allow any kind of filth or littering around us. To protect the life of every living being on Earth, it is essential to plant as many trees as possible. If pollution continues to rise at this rate and we do not take timely steps for environmental protection, it could pose a severe crisis for future generations." On this occasion, Rajbir Singh Bhartiya, Senior Vice President of the Manimajra EWS Residents Welfare Association, stated that the balance of nature can only be maintained if we protect the environment. For this, it is crucial to plant maximum trees and promote greenery. He reminded everyone that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire world realized the vital importance of oxygen, and we must always value the flora and fauna provided by nature.
He added that trees do not just provide shade and beauty, but are the ultimate source of life-giving oxygen. Therefore, every individual must connect with the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign. Dignitaries Present: Apart from MOH team members Ravindra Lohat, Deepak Kumar, Rahul, Bimal, Jitendra, and Ankit, the event saw the presence of prominent social workers and dignitaries of the city, including S.S. Parwana, Sardar Sham Singh, Sanjeev Gaba, and Abhijeet Saini. The program concluded successfully, with everyone taking a collective pledge to promote cleanliness, environmental protection, and greenery.
