Open Gym Inaugurated in Sector 42; Residents Get Modern Fitness Facility
Chandigarh 22 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A state-of-the-art open gym was inaugurated today in the park opposite House No. 1150, Sector 42. Area Councilor and former Senior Deputy Mayor, Jasbir Singh Bunty, presided over the event and had the ribbon cut by women to honor 'Mahila Shakti' (women's empowerment). A large number of local residents attended the event and welcomed this public-friendly initiative. Residents mentioned that previously, they had to visit other parks for exercise and fitness activities as this park lacked gym facilities. With the installation of the open gym, children, the youth, and the elderly will now be able to enjoy health benefits right near their homes.
Eight types of modern fitness equipment have been installed at the gym, enabling people to perform cardio and other physical exercises. This will assist residents in adopting a healthy lifestyle and improving their fitness levels. Speaking on the occasion, Jasbir Singh Bunty stated that providing better civic amenities to the area's residents is his priority. He noted that alongside the open gym, new tables and benches have been installed in the park, creating a better environment for sitting and social activities, particularly for senior citizens. Local resident Harinder Rawat remarked that the installation of the open gym has enhanced both the beauty and utility of the park. Now, people will have the opportunity to engage in regular exercise alongside their morning and evening walks.During the event, Municipal Corporation SDO Rohit Garg stated that in addition to this park, gym equipment and play equipment for children would be installed in other parks across the sector as well. He mentioned that the contractor would handle the maintenance and repair of the open gym for the next three years; however, should residents face any issues, the Municipal Corporation team would promptly resolve them. He further added that the Municipal Corporation is always committed to serving the public and that, under the guidance of Area Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty, development works would be completed on a priority basis. A massive tree-plantation drive will also be conducted in the parks during the upcoming monsoon season, commencing from this very park.
Several prominent citizens—including Rajkumar Sharma, Malkit Singh, Pawan Singla, Harinder Rawat, Om Prakash Gupta, Ray A. Tomar, Vinod Kaushal, Rajan Kalia, and Krishna Kumar—were present on the occasion and graced the event with their presence.
