United Struggle Announced Against India-US Trade Deal; Meeting of Various Farmer and Worker Organizations Concludes
Chandigarh 26 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A significant meeting of various farmer, worker, and social organizations was held today, June 25, 2026, at Kisan Bhawan, Sector-35 A, Chandigarh. The meeting involved serious deliberations on the potential adverse effects of the proposed India-US trade deal on farmers, workers, livestock rearers, small traders, and the nation's food and economic sovereignty. Distinguished representatives from various organizations—including SKM (Non-Political), AKMM (Non-Political), Azad Kisan Morcha, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha Haryana, Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh, and All India MSP Morcha—participated in the meeting. Farmer representatives from numerous states, including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Odisha, UP, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh, were present.
All organizations unanimously decided to launch a large-scale joint struggle against the India-US trade deal. Speakers stated that this deal could pose a serious threat to the interests of the country's farmers, livestock rearers, workers, and the general public. Therefore, all organizations resolved to set aside their differences, unite on a single platform, and fight this battle vigorously. To determine the future course of action, it was decided to convene a meeting of five key representatives from each participating forum and organization on July 1, 2026, at Kisan Bhawan, Sector-35 A, Chandigarh.* This meeting will deliberate on a detailed strategy for a joint struggle against the India-US trade deal, outline the programs, and discuss the subsequent phases of the movement.
It was also decided to invite those farmers', workers', and social organizations—or their representatives—who could not attend today's meeting to the one scheduled for July 1st. The aim is to bring the maximum number of organizations onto a single platform and formulate a strategy for a broad, robust, and effective joint struggle against the trade deal. The leaders present at the meeting clearly stated that no compromise would be accepted regarding issues concerning the country's agriculture, animal husbandry, employment, and food security. Should the government ignore the concerns of farmers and workers, the Joint Front would be compelled to resort to a nationwide movement.
