Warring raps AAP govt for taking 1500 cr more loan
Warns, AAP will leave a bankrupt Punjab
‘Robbing Peter to pay Paul’
Chandigarh 26 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government for taking Rs 1500 crore more loan, warning that it will push Punjab towards bankruptcy. It is a classic case of robbing Peter to pay Paul, he remarked, while pointing out how the state was being continuously burdened with debt. “I am sure, the AAP will leave a bankrupt Punjab for its successor government”, he remarked.
He said, Punjab’s debt had already reached to about Rs 4.5 lakh crores and the AAP was continuously and wantonly taking debts knowing well that its time was already up and it was creating massive liabilities for the next government. He warned that it may take generations for Punjab to repay these loans. He said, the tragedy is that the loans are not being taken for any productive or purposeful development but only for the AAP’s extravagance.
Warring referred to recent Punjab Government Gazette notifications saying that the state government was selling its securities to generate Rs 1500 crore loan. He noted that given the past experience, it is obvious that the loan money will be used for unproductive purposes like publicity that the AAP desperately needs, to cover up the mess it was in.
