Demands End to Sanitation Workers' Strike and Immediate Acceptance of Their Legitimate Demands
S.A.S.Nagar 15 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Councilor and representative of Ward No. 41, Gurpreet Kaur Ubha, forcefully raised issues concerning her ward during the Municipal Corporation House meeting. Additionally, she urged Mayor Sarabjit Singh Samana and the Municipal Corporation administration to bring an immediate end to the ongoing sanitation workers' strike, accept their legitimate demands, and find a dignified resolution to their grievances.
During the meeting, Gurpreet Kaur Ubha presented newspaper clippings and photographs from the site to the House, highlighting problems such as garbage dumps, stagnant wastewater, poor sanitation, dilapidated parks, and other basic infrastructure issues in the villages of Sambhalki and Nanu Majra, as well as in Sector-88. She stated that these images expose the reality behind the claims of development in Mohali.
She noted that despite submitting numerous written complaints and holding meetings with officials and the Mayor, no concrete solutions have been implemented. Consequently, residents of the ward continue to struggle with issues related to sanitation, sewerage, wastewater drainage, broken roads, non-functional streetlights, and a lack of other basic amenities.
Gurpreet Kaur Ubha demanded a permanent and speedy resolution to all pending issues in the villages of Sambhalki and Nanu Majra, Sector-88, and the entire Ward No. 41. She called for directives to be issued to the concerned officials for immediate action so that residents could find relief from their daily hardships. She affirmed that she would continue to fight for the rights of the residents of Ward No. 41 in the Municipal Corporation, acting as their voice. She pledged to vigorously raise these issues on every platform until every basic problem in the ward is resolved.
