Massive Demonstration at Congress Bhawan Against Vindictive FIR on Rahul Gandhi

Slams BJP's Regressive Politics

Chandigarh 4 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The protest organized by the Scheduled Caste Department of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee against the vindictive FIR registered against Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi entered its fourth consecutive day today, witnessing an overwhelming turnout of party workers and office-bearers at Punjab Congress Bhawan. The demonstration saw vigorous slogan-shouting and heavy mobilization, with leaders and workers reiterating their uncompromising stance against the politics of harassment and vendetta. The leaders made it categorically clear that the ongoing sit-in protest will not be lifted under any circumstances until the false case against Rahul Gandhi is unconditionally revoked and exemplary action is taken against those responsible for humiliating the Dalit community. They warned that if the authorities fail to act swiftly, the agitation will not remain confined to the party headquarters but will spill out onto the streets, expanding into a massive statewide movement covering every single block and district of Punjab.

Mounting a scathing critique of the ruling dispensation, the gathering strongly condemned the BJP for propagating a regressive, 'Sanghwad' and 'Manusmriti' mindset aimed at reviving age old discrimination and subjugating marginalized communities. The leaders denounced the politics of polarization, pointing out that while the BJP exploits religion for narrow electoral gains and perpetuates caste divisions, the Congress party has always stood resolutely for constitutional secularism, equality, and social justice. The protest specifically took severe exception to discriminatory acts such as the alleged 'shuddhi-karan' and purification rituals conducted in the wake of Dalit leaders' public addresses, describing them as deeply abhorrent, unconstitutional, and a direct assault on the fundamental tenets of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution. Reaffirming their resolve, the workers declared that no degree of administrative intimidation will deter them from fighting on the ground to defend constitutional values and the dignity of oppressed sections.
The agitation was led under the guidance of key leadership, including Sudhir Choudhary (National Coordinator, In-charge Punjab Congress), Mani Ram (National Coordinator, Co-incharge Punjab Congress), and Gurpreet Singh Lucky Pakho (Chairman, SC Department Punjab Congress). Prominent leaders present on the occasion included Yamini Gomar (Working Chairman, Punjab Congress), Harwinder Pal Singh (Vice Chairman, Punjab Congress), Lakhwinder Singh (District Chairman, Fatehgarh Sahib, Congress), Ranjit Singh (District Chairman, Mohali, Congress), and Ajmer Singh (District Chairman, Ropar, Congress), Advocate Avtar Singh Sandhwan, (Gen. sec. faridkot, Congress), Sewak Singh (Gen. sec. Fathehgarh Sahib, Congress) alongside leaders Manjit Singh and Sher Singh.
