Warring condemns police brutality against *MGNREGA employees* in Khanna Says, Mann has turned Punjab into police state Chandigarh 15 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today condemned the brutal police barbarity against the MGNREGA employees in Khanna who were demanding the payment of their pending wages. “Bhagwant Mann has turned Punjab into a police state”, he remarked, while noting that instead of listening to the problems and demands of the needy, he has been using brute police force against them. Ludhiana/Chandigarh 15 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : An important meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of Punjab Employees and Pensioners' Sanjha Front and Sanjha Mulajm Manch, Punjab was held at the Zila Parishad Complex under the joint chairmanship of Bhajan Singh Gill and Gurnam Singh Birk. Decisions of the meeting While issuing a press statement, Coordination Committee leaders Satish Rana and Sushil Kumar Fauji said that during the meeting, as per the decisions taken in the meeting held on June 20, 2026 at Pensioner Bhawan, Ludhiana, satisfaction was expressed on the actions taken in the protest held in front of the treasury offices on June 24 and the warning letters issued by forcefully gheraoing the houses of cabinet ministers and MLAs from July 01 to 11.

The leaders said that keeping in mind the visit of the Prime Minister of the country to Chandigarh on July 17, due to security arrangements, it was decided to postpone the state-level grand rally to be held in Chandigarh on July 17, 2026 and now it will be held on August 07, 2026 at Dana Mandi, Sector 39, Chandigarh. The leaders said that now July 17 will be celebrated as a black day in the entire Punjab, because on July 17, 2020, an anti-employee notification was issued by the Punjab government, through which the compulsory central pay scale has been imposed on Indian employees from July 17, 2020. Therefore, on July 17, copies of this letter will be burned throughout Punjab and this day will be celebrated as Black Day. The leaders further said that this August 7th Maharally is being held to issue 18% dearness allowance, implement 2.59 multiplier on pensioners, restore old pension, make all types of casual employees permanent and implement minimum pay scale for honorarium/incentive (ASHA, Mid-Day Meal, Aganwadi) employees, make the probationary period one year with full pay, cancel the central pay scale and implement the Punjab scale, revise and restore discontinued allowances, and abolish the Rs 200 jizya tax.

During today's meeting, the leaders also announced that if the government does not learn any lesson by the grand rally on August 7, then a complete strike will be announced during the same grand rally. During this meeting, through a resolution, the strike of sanitation workers going on since July 8, the two-day strike of electricity employees on July 21-22, the rally being organized by the Pensioners Joint Front in Sangrur on July 29 and the rally being organized by the Old Pension Restoration Joint Forum in the Chief Minister's village Satoj on August 23 were fully supported and the leaders and colleagues were appealed to join these actions along with their colleagues.
