CMC horticulture workers rally. Preparations are underway for a massive protest on August 5th to demand the permanent employment of temporary workers and equal pay for equal work.

Chandigarh 31 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) :  CMC Horticulture Workers Union Chandigarh (Regd. No. 473) today appealed in a rally at Horticulture Booth Sector 16 to make the joint massive protest being held on August 5 a success for regularizing all the temporary employees who have completed 10 years and to include the outsourced employees under the department in the regularization policy and to give them equal pay for equal work with immediate effect. Highlighting the above demands of the employees, union officials stated that the union and federation would accept nothing less. The administration must take appropriate steps immediately to implement the demands of the temporary employees. Addressing the rally, Union President Harkesh Chand , General Secretary Hardeep Singh , Vice President Budhram , Joint Secretary Ajaib Singh and Sohanlal, Finance Secretary Rajendra Kumar , Gurpreet Singh , Organization Secretary Vinod Milu , Perumal , Ayyapan , Naresh Sharma , Mata Sharan , Devi Singh, etc. strongly criticized the Chandigarh Administration and the Municipal Corporation for their negative attitude towards the demands of outsourced employees.

They said that due to the negative and anti-employee working style of the Administration and the Corporation, the problems of the employees are continuously increasing. Instead of resolving the demands through negotiations, the Administration is continuously adopting a negative attitude, which has led to the demand for one-time regularization of all daily wage and contract employees who have completed 10 years , job security till retirement by placing outsourced employees directly under the administration or a government-led agency instead of the JAM portal, implementing the principle of equal pay for equal work , restoration of old pension , prompt filling of vacant promotion posts in departments , immediate retirement benefits to retired employees , restoration of parks and green spaces of the Horticulture Department. The demands , including the cancellation of the decision to hand over belts to private societies through MoUs , the implementation of uniforms , oil, soap , children's allowance , CGHS benefits, and an increase in the ESI and bonus limit to ₹50,000 , the correction of errors in the DC rates of supervisors, and an unconditional 2% increase in the DC rates of all outsourced employees who have completed five years , have been pending for a long time. Therefore, departmental and joint struggles will continue. Demonstrating their immense unity, he appealed to all employees to join in large numbers in the strike organized by the Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh, and the United Employees Front on August 5, 2026.
