CPDL Issues Monsoon Safety Advisory for Consumers

Chandigarh 1 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In observance of the National Electric Safety Week and with the onset of monsoon season, the Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited has urged the consumers to exercise extra caution while using electrical equipment to prevent accidents and ensure safety. CPDL officials advised residents to maintain a safe distance from electric poles, transformers, and any exposed or damaged electrical wires, particularly during and after rainfall. 

Consumers have also been cautioned against touching electrical appliances or equipment with wet hands. In the event of water leakage inside homes, the main power supply should be switched off immediately to avoid any risk of electric shock. Officials further emphasized that drying clothes on electricity wires is extremely dangerous and should be strictly avoided. Consumers are also advised not to overload electrical sockets and extension boards. 

CPDL has appealed to the public to immediately report any snapped or damaged electricity wires lying on roads or public places through its helpline numbers so that immediate action can be taken. Parents have been urged to ensure that children stay away from waterlogged areas, electrical installations, and electrical appliances during the monsoon season. Officials requested the consumers to follow the advisory to prevent any mishap or untoward incidents.
