Felicitation ceremony upon the retirement of prominent trade union leader and Federation Joint Secretary, Bihari Lal; representatives from over a dozen and half unions participated.

Chandigarh 1 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A grand farewell ceremony was held here today for the renowned trade union leader and Federation Joint Secretary, Shri Bihari Lal. The event was organized by the Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh, in Sector 30. Rajendra Katoch, President of the Federation, presided over the function. Office bearers from approximately fifteen unions—including ICCW, Electricity, Water Supply, Road Electrical, MC Manimajra, Sampark Centre, Anganwadi, Government Hospital (Sector 16), UT Handicapped Employees Union, and the UT & MC Pensioners Association—along with a large number of crèche workers and helpers, participated in the event.

Comrade Bihari Lal joined the Indian Council for Child Welfare (Bal Bhavan) in 1990 and has been an active worker for the union and federation since 1992. He never allowed his trade union activities to interfere with his official departmental duties and always raised a strong voice against wrongdoing. He had to pay a price for this on several occasions, yet he never wavered from his objective. On this occasion, special honor was also accorded to his wife, Smt. Sudesh Kumari, who steadfastly supported Bihari Lal in his trade union work and endured numerous hardships alongside him.
Federation President Gopal Dutt Joshi made special mention of Shri Bihari Lal’s contributions and read out a citation honoring his commitment to the trade union.
