Janata Dal (United) Unveiled Punjab Roadmap, Announced Entry into State Politics Ahead of Assembly Elections

Party announces Malvinder Singh as Punjab President, also declares Core Committee

Chandigarh 4 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Janata Dal (United), led by Bihar's former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar formally announced its political expansion into Punjab and unveiled its roadmap for the forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections during a press conference held at the Chandigarh Press Club on Saturday. Addressing the media, Sanjay Kumar, Punjab In-charge (Prabhari) of JD(U), said the party had decided to enter Punjab with a vision of providing a credible, development-oriented and people-centric political alternative. He stated that Punjab deserved clean, transparent and accountable governance focused on the aspirations of its youth, farmers, entrepreneurs and common citizens.

JD(U) highlighted its growing footprint across several states, including Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Manipur, MP, UP, Gujarat, Assam, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Lakshadweep expressed confidence that its governance-oriented approach would resonate with the people of Punjab. Sanjay Kumar made it clear that the party officially declared its intention to contest the forthcoming Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections. It also announced the formation of its Punjab organizational structure and outlined plans to strengthen its presence across the state through an extensive grassroots campaign.

A major announcement on the occasion was the constitution of the Punjab Pradesh Core Committee which will spearhead the party's expansion in the state. Malvinder Singh was appointed as President, Punjab Pradesh while Gurpal Singh Hundal as Vice President.  I.S. Ahluwalia as Secretary General, Sanjiv Jha as General Secretary (Organisation) and Kanwar Singh Dhindsa was inducted as a key member of the core leadership. The newly appointed office-bearers pledged to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and prepare the organization for the forthcoming Assembly elections. Kumar emphasized that the party's agenda would focus on employment generation, quality education, agricultural reforms, better healthcare, transparent administration, women's empowerment and social welfare. He said JD(U) aimed to build a politics based on performance, accountability and inclusive development rather than divisive narratives

The leadership also announced the launch of a statewide membership drive to connect with people across villages, towns and cities of Punjab. The campaign would encourage the participation of youth, women, professionals, farmers and members of civil society who wished to contribute towards building a stronger and more progressive Punjab. The party reiterated its commitment to promoting clean politics and youth-driven leadership while encouraging greater public participation in governance. It maintained that its expansion into Punjab reflected its long-term commitment to strengthening democratic values and offering voters a constructive political choice.
