Chandigarh 23 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Supporting the dharna being held at Desh Bhagat Yadgar, Jalandhar on July 25 at 11 am to protest against the assault on democratic rights by the police and RSS-affiliated elements in Delhi and the attack on democratic rights, the Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (Regd.) has appealed to the entire writing community of Punjab to participate in it in maximum numbers. A joint statement issued by Kendri Punjabi Lekhk Sabha President Darshan Buttar, General Secretary Sushil Dosanjh, Senior Vice President Makhan Singh Kuhar and Office Secretary Deep Devinder Singh said that expressing one's opinion peacefully, struggling for public issues and exercising democratic rights is the constitutional right of every citizen. Every attempt to suppress the voice of dissent through police force or violence is against the spirit of democracy and the spirit of the Constitution, which should be firmly opposed by every democratic force.

The leaders said that writers and intellectuals are the conscience of any society. When civil liberties, democratic rights and constitutional values ​​are attacked, it is the responsibility of the literary community to stand firm on the side of the people and raise their voice instead of remaining silent. The Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (Regd.) has appealed to all writers, poets, story writers, playwrights, critics, journalists and literary-cultural activists of Punjab to participate in this protest in maximum numbers to be held at Desh Bhagat Yadgar, Jalandhar on July 25 and express their solidarity for the protection of democratic rights, civil liberties and constitutional values.
