MINERVA ACADEMY DOMINATES HELSINKI CUP WITH BACK-TO-BACK SHUTOUTS; SCORES 18 GOALS IN ONE DAY
Chandigarh 9 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Following a massive opening day, India’s Minerva Academy showed absolutely no signs of slowing down at the Helsinki Cup 2026, delivering back-to-back masterclass victories to dismantle local Finnish sides F.C. Kasiysi and EBK. In a staggering display of attacking football and defensive discipline, the Indian side scored a combined 18 goals while maintaining two consecutive clean sheets, cementing their position as an absolute powerhouse on European soil.
Match 1: Minerva Academy Cruises Past F.C. Kasiysi 7-0Minerva Academy imposed their tempo from the opening whistle in their morning fixture, carving open the F.C. Kasiysi defense to build a commanding 4-0 cushion by halftime. Haokip ignited the scoreboard early with a sharp goal in the 3rd minute, followed by a strike from the team's creative engine, T. Kipgen, in the 7th minute. Haokip found his second of the morning in the 19th minute with a highly technical finish, followed immediately by Paikhomba, who drilled home a fantastic goal in the 20th minute. The second half belonged entirely to Rimoson, who put on a clinical display in the final third to register a brilliant second-half hat-trick (22', 24', 39'), sealing a flawless 7-0 blowout. Match 2: Minerva Academy Annihilates EBK 11-0Carrying immense momentum into their next fixture, Minerva Academy launched a relentless assault against EBK, blowing the opposition away with a stunning 6-0 lead by halftime. T. Kipgen set the tone instantly, striking in the 2nd minute, while Yohenba quickly doubled the advantage with goals in the 3rd and 7th minutes. Kipgen then took complete control, completing an extraordinary first-half poker (4 goals) with rapid strikes in the 12th, 15th, and 18th minutes. The second half was a continuation of complete tactical dominance. Haokip joined the scoresheet in the 23rd minute, followed by Kipgen, who bagged his fifth and sixth goals of the match (28', 31'). Yohenba completed a spectacular hat-trick of his own in the 37th minute, and Mekhamkhraw put the final exclamation point on the historic performance with a composed finish in the 40th minute to finalize the 11-0 scoreline.
