National Statistics Office (Field Operations Division) Appeals for Public Cooperation in Statistical Surveys During July 2026
Chandigarh 1 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Field Operations Division (FOD) of the National Statistics Office (NSO), functioning under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, has been conducting nationwide statistical surveys since 1950. The information collected through these surveys serves as a vital input for evidence-based planning, policy formulation, and development initiatives at both the National and State levels.
The NSO (FOD) collects information from selected households and establishments through its trained field officers using secure, hand-held digital devices (tablets) equipped with the e-Sigma application. For enterprise surveys, data is collected through designated secure web portals. The Office assures all respondents that the information furnished during these surveys is treated with the utmost confidentiality. The identity of participating households and enterprises is never disclosed in any report or publication, and the data collected is used exclusively for statistical purposes in accordance with the provisions governing official statistics.
During the month of July 2026, the NSO (FOD) will undertake various statistical surveys across selected districts. Details of these surveys are provided in Annexure-I. In addition, selected establishments are being approached periodically by NSO (FOD) officials for data collection under the following ongoing statistical programmes:
• Wholesale Price Index (WPI)
• Purchaser Price Index (PPI)
• Index of Industrial Production (IIP)
• Annual Survey of Incorporated Service Sector Enterprises (ASISSE)
• Rapid Survey of Functional Cooperatives (April–September 2026)
The selected units under these surveys may receive official notices and be contacted by authorised NSO (FOD) officials for furnishing the required information.
The Government of India appeals to all selected households, enterprises, institutions, and cooperatives covered under these surveys, as listed in Annexure-I, to extend their full cooperation to the authorised survey officials. Respondents are requested to spare their valuable time and provide accurate and complete information. Active participation by citizens and establishments is essential for generating reliable official statistics that support informed decision-making, effective governance, and the country's overall socio-economic development.
