NSNIS Patiala Marks Kargil Vijay Diwas with Special "Sundays on Cycle" Rally and Cleanliness Drive
Patiala 26 July ( PDL ) : In a fitting tribute to the heroes of Operation Vijay, the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala, organized a special edition of the "Sundays on Cycle" initiative on Kargil Vijay Diwas. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, patriotism, and environmental awareness while strengthening military-civilian ties.
Over 100 participants—including officers, coaches, staff, and trainees from NSNIS Patiala, alongside the Airawat Division Cycling Team and the 10 Guards Battalion—enthusiastically joined the event. Together, the teams completed a 30 km cycling route, demonstrating a shared commitment to national unity, fitness, and eco-friendly living. Additionally, participants conducted a Swachh Bharat Safai Abhiyan drive along the route, reinforcing values of cleanliness and civic responsibility.Addressing the gathering, the Senior Executive Director (SED) of NSNIS Patiala paid heartfelt homage to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War. He stated that Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a enduring reminder of the courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment of the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty. Highlighting the significance of the "Sundays on Cycle" program, the SED emphasized that regular cycling not only fosters personal fitness and a healthy lifestyle, but also supports a greener environment through clean transportation. He urged all attendees to make daily exercise a habitual practice and to act as active ambassadors for the Fit India Movement.
