Morcha to announce future course of action at the convention
Chandigarh 3 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : An important meeting of conveners and executive committee members from six federations was held today in Sector 18 under the banner of the Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha (Joint Employees' Front), UT and MC Chandigarh. Presided over by Convener Surmukh Singh, the meeting involved a detailed discussion on various pending issues and demands concerning the employees. The conveners and executive committee members of all six federations unanimously decided to organize a massive employees' convention on July 7 to support the employees' legitimate demands.
The objective of this convention is to draw the attention of the government and administration to the employees' problems and to urge them to take immediate action for their resolution. Leaders of the Morcha stated that employees working across various departments of the UT Administration and the Municipal Corporation have long been struggling for issues such as the regularization of contract employees who have completed ten years of service, placing outsourced employees under a government-centric agency instead of the GeM portal, 'equal pay for equal work,' filling vacant posts, reforming the contract and outsourcing systems, social security, and other matters related to employee welfare; however, no concrete solution has been reached so far.
Participants in the meeting included Gopal Dutt Joshi, Ranjit Mishra, Surmukh Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Bipin Sher Singh, Rajendra Katoch, Harkesh Chand, M.M. Subramaniam, Naseeb Singh, Ranjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Ravindra Bindu, Harpal Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Ram Sundar, Chandra Jaswal, Sahil Kahlon, Shiv Kumar, and others.
It was also decided during the meeting that an extensive outreach campaign would be conducted across all departments to ensure the convention's success and to encourage the maximum possible participation of employees. The Morcha has called upon all employee organizations—including contractual, outsourced, daily-wage, work-charged, and regular employees—to participate enthusiastically in the convention scheduled for July 7 and to demonstrate their solidarity. The meeting was attended by various federations and associations, including the Federation of UT & MC, Chandigarh UT Subordinate Federation, Joint Action Committee of UT & MC, UT SS Federation, Joint Employees Welfare Association, and All Contractual Employees Union India, among others.
