World-class flower market to be set up in Ludhiana : Harchand Singh Barsat

S.A.S.Nagar 27 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Punjab Government and the Punjab Mandi Board are taking a major step to boost floriculture and increase farmers' income in the state. A world-class flower market will be established in Ludhiana, Punjab. This high-tech market will provide state-of-the-art facilities to flower-growing farmers under one roof. The establishment of this market will also encourage and motivate other farmers in the state to take up floriculture. These views were expressed today by Harchand Singh Barsat, Chairman of the Punjab Mandi Board, during a special meeting with farmers engaged in floriculture. Representatives of the PAU Flower Growers Club, Punjab, met Barsat at the Mandi Board's headquarters. During the meeting, the club representatives apprised the Chairman of various challenges faced in flower cultivation, as well as key requirements such as the lack of marketing facilities and the need for cold storage.
Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat listened to all the farmers' issues and demands with the utmost seriousness, empathy, and attention to detail. He assured the farmers that all their legitimate grievances would be resolved on a priority basis and as quickly as possible. He stated that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann always stands with the farmers and is continuously working for their welfare. Addressing the meeting, the Chairman stated that floriculture is currently an excellent and profitable means for the economic progress and prosperity of farmers. Plans are being formulated to establish a state-of-the-art market in Ludhiana to encourage other farmers to take up this practice. Highlighting the benefits of floriculture, he noted that it not only beautifies the surrounding environment and purifies the air but also enhances soil fertility. Furthermore, this will generate greater local employment opportunities, thereby strengthening the state's economy.Harchand Singh Barsat instructed the senior board officials present at the meeting to take steps to connect farmers with national-level markets. He directed that the registration process for flower-growing farmers be initiated. He explained that this registration would generate data, which would further accelerate efforts to market Punjab's flowers at both national and international levels. Representatives of the PAU Flower Growers Club extended special thanks to Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat on this occasion. Punjab Mandi Board Joint Secretary Harjit Singh Sandhu, along with various DGMs and other officials, attended the meeting.
