At Paras Health Panchkula, 100 Pledges Unite for the Gift of Life

Panchkula 16 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Paras Health Panchkula organised an awareness programme on World Organ Donation Day 2026 to promote organ donation, dispel common myths and encourage greater public participation. The event brought together healthcare experts, transplant specialists, distinguished guests, patients and community members to highlight the importance of timely organ transplantation. Surinder Doodi, ACP, Traffic Police, Panchkula, attended as the Chief Guest, while Dr. (Col) Anurag Garg, Chief Transplant Coordinator, Command Hospital, and Priyanka Punia, Educationist, Motivational Speaker & Director, Pi Academy, were the Guests of Honour. The programme began with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by expert sessions on organ donation and transplantation. An interactive ‘Myth vs Fact’ session addressed common misconceptions, while patient stories highlighted how transplantation can transform the lives of patients and their families.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Facility Director, Paras Health Panchkula, said, “Organ donation has the potential to transform lives and give families a second chance at hope. While transplant medicine has advanced significantly, the availability of suitable organs remains a key challenge. Every pledge represents hope for someone waiting for a second chance at life.” Prof. (Gp Capt.) Dr. Sumesh Kaistha, Director – Liver Transplant, GI Surgery & Robotics, highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among transplant surgeons, physicians, intensivists, coordinators, nursing teams and other healthcare professionals for successful transplantation.

The programme concluded with an organ donation pledge drive, where 100 participants pledged their organs. A felicitation ceremony was also organised to acknowledge individuals and stakeholders supporting the cause. Paras Health Panchkula reiterated its commitment to promoting awareness, informed decision-making and public participation to strengthen the culture of organ donation and help more patients access the life-saving benefits of transplantation.
