Central University of Punjab Bids Farewell to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari; Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika Takes Charge as Acting Vice-Chancellor

CU Punjab fraternity extends its heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari for his visionary leadership and dedicated service as Vice-Chancellor from 22 August 2020 to 31 July 2026.

Bathinda 1 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari officially completed his tenure as the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, with 31 July 2026 marking his last working day in office. Following the relevel of Prof. Tiwari from his extended term, Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika, Senior Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, has assumed charge as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University. Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari assumed office as the third Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab on 22 August 2020. During his tenure, the University recorded remarkable progress in academics, research, infrastructure development, innovation, and institutional governance. Under his leadership, the University successfully implemented the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, expanded its academic and research ecosystem, strengthened industry-academia collaborations, promoted innovation and entrepreneurship, and significantly enhanced community engagement.

The University also achieved several landmark accomplishments during his tenure, including securing A+ Grade accreditation from NAAC in its second cycle, maintaining its position among the Top 100 Universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), and making its debut in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026. The University's research output, funded projects, faculty strength, academic programmes, and infrastructure also witnessed substantial growth, further enhancing its reputation as an emerging institution of excellence in higher education. Following the completion of his tenure at the Central University of Punjab, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari will assume charge as the Vice-Chancellor of Pragjyotishpur University, Guwahati, Assam. CU Punjab officials, faculty members, officers, and staff accorded him a warm farewell at his official residence on Saturday, expressing their gratitude for his visionary leadership and invaluable contributions to the University's growth, and wishing him continued success in his future endeavours.

With Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika assuming charge as the Acting Vice-Chancellor, the Central University of Punjab will continue to function under his leadership until a regular Vice-Chancellor is appointed. Prof. Wusirika brings over 30 years of teaching and research experience. He has been serving as the Dean In-charge (Academics) of the University for the past six years and has played a significant role in strengthening the University's academic framework and implementing key institutional initiatives.
