Zonal NRI Milni an Eyewash for Punjabi Diaspora, Says NAPA Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal Chandigarh 27 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A zonal meeting organised to address the issues and concerns of the NRI community has proved to be little more than an eyewash and has failed to provide meaningful relief to members of the Punjabi diaspora, particularly those who travel long distances with genuine grievances and return home empty-handed. This was stated by Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), in a press statement issued here today. Sharing his own experience of attending an NRI Milni, Chahal said that he himself had been a victim of alleged police inaction in Punjab. He said he had approached the then NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, and his complaint was registered with the NRI Sabha. Environmental Protection Possible Only Through Plantation; Everyone Should Plant and Care for Trees

Members of City Fitness Group also participated in the campaign and created awareness among people about environmental protection

S.A.S.Nagar 26 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : As part of a plantation campaign, Punjab Congress Seva Dal General Secretary Vishal Sharma and Mohali Mahila Wing Secretary Rajni Dixit planted saplings at City Park in Sector 68, Mohali. Members of the City Fitness Group of City Park, Sector 68, were also specially present on the occasion. The members of the City Fitness Group appreciated the plantation campaign and planted saplings along with the office-bearers of the Punjab Congress Seva Dal. Other members of the organisation were also present during the programme.

Vishal Sharma said that planting more and more saplings is essential to keep the environment clean and safe. He said that merely planting saplings is not enough; their regular care and protection are also our responsibility. He appealed to people to plant as many saplings as possible in and around their surroundings and come forward for their protection as well. Rajni Dixit also created awareness among people about environmental protection and said that plantation should not be limited to a campaign but should be made a part of our daily responsibility. On the occasion, the members present also pledged to work together for environmental protection.
