Federation of UT Employees and Workers, Chandigarh holds a lengthy meeting with the Municipal Corporation's Chief Engineer; consensus reached on most demands; assurance given for timely implementation:

Chandigarh 13 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A two-hour-long meeting regarding the demands of Municipal Corporation employees was held today at 11:00 AM, presided over by Chief Engineer Mr. Sanjay Arora. A consensus was reached on most demands, and assurances were given that they would be implemented within a specified timeframe. Representatives from the Corporation included Superintending Engineer (B&R) Dharmendra Sharma; Superintending Engineer (Public Health) and W&E (Chief Engineer's Office) Yogesh Agarwal; Superintending Engineer (Horticulture & Electrical) P.P. Singh; as well as all Executive Engineers, Office Superintendents, and dealing hands from the Engineering Department. Representatives from the Federation included President Gopal Dutt Joshi, Chief Rajendra Katoch, General Secretary Harkesh Chand, Public Health Chief Harpal Singh, Horticulture General Secretary Hardeep Singh, Vice Presidents Budhram and Rajendra Kumar, Electrical Chiefs Tarun Jaiswal, Gurvinder Singh, and Saurabh Kumar, along with MC Manimajra representatives Nasib Singh, Tejmani, and Ramvinay Bhardwaj, and Road Department representatives Rajendra and Manmohan, among others.

Regarding the meeting's agenda: implementing the 7th Pay Commission and immediately paying arrears in full; implementing the Modified ACP scheme; paying uniform allowances (due since 2022) to eligible employees across all Municipal Corporation (MC) departments; filling vacant promotional posts across MC departments through Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) proceedings; promptly appointing staff transferred from the Engineering Department as Office Superintendents in accordance with the administration's notification; amending the regularization policy of March 13, 2015, to unconditionally regularize all daily-wage workers and forwarding their cases to the SLG; granting basic pay, DA, HRA, CCA, and medical allowances to daily-wage workers appointed after 1996, as per the Corporation House decision; raising the ESI limit to at least ₹50,000; revoking the decision to hand over MC parks to private societies via MoUs; scrapping the proposal to privatize street lighting and instead procuring materials to carry out the work departmentally; revising DC rates for electricians, horticulture supervisors, and Kajoli Waterworks staff based on the nature of their work, and immediately paying an additional 2% DC rate to outsourced staff with five years of continuous service; providing safety equipment and supplies—such as oil, soap, jaggery, and gloves—to Public Health and Solid Waste Management Plant staff engaged in hazardous work, and ensuring medical check-ups every 15 days; expediting the payment of pensions, gratuity, and GPF to retired employees; ensuring salary disbursement before the 7th of the month; providing jobs to dependents of deceased employees by removing recruitment ceilings and retaining the families of outsourced staff who die on duty in outsourced roles; reinstating retrenched Public Health workers; taking action against contractors who solicit money—directly or indirectly—from outsourced staff; and [addressing the conduct of] officials who deliberately delay employee promotion and retirement cases... Discussions were held regarding demands such as fixing accountability and taking action, bringing outsourced personnel directly under the control of the departments, and forwarding relevant cases to higher authorities. 

Instructions were issued to implement demands falling within the corporation's jurisdiction, while it was decided to refer matters requiring policy decisions to the administration. The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with gratitude expressed to the Chief Engineer for the assurance that positive steps would be taken regarding the demands and that they would be implemented within a specific timeframe.
