Field employees staged a strong protest rally at the Sewerage Board headquarters in Chandigarh

Chandigarh 18 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : PWD Field and Workshop Workers Union Punjab today staged a dharna under the chairmanship of Chief Executive Officer Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board headquarters in Sector 27 A Plant, Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of State President Makhan Singh Wahidpuri. Releasing the proceedings of the dharna to the press, State General Secretary Phuman Singh Kathgarh said that the organization is continuously communicating with the management of the Sewerage Board, but the management is continuously ignoring the demands of the workers and is not even giving time for the organization's meeting. During the rally, employees from all over Punjab raised slogans in front of the main gate, causing a lot of conflict between the employees and the administration and strongly condemned the officials of the Sewerage Board and the leaders said that the employees are protesting heavily due to the non-resolution of the issues of the employees. 

Among the major demands, the old pension scheme should be implemented for the employees working in the Sewerage Board before 2004, the employees working on outsource and contract for a long time should be regularized, the salaries of the workers working on contract and outsource should be increased to at least Rs 30,000 per month, the benefits of the workers who have retired from the Sewerage Board should be given soon, the gratuity leave in cash has not been paid to the retired employees for the past six months, the salaries of the raw workers who have been stopped for the last six to seven months should be given immediately, the due benefits should be given to the 104 workers who were made permanent in 2017, jobs should be given to the heirs of the deceased workers, the contract recruitment should be stopped in the Sewerage Board and permanent recruitment should be made on the vacant posts. Due to the pressure of the protest rally today, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sewerage Board gave the organization a meeting time of September 1 and assured to resolve the demands. 
Today's protest was addressed by Senior Vice President Balraj Singh Maur, Lakhwinder Singh Khanpur, Harpreet Singh Grewal, Baljinder Singh Finance Secretary, Sukhchain Singh Bathinda, Darshan Singh Nangal, Kulbir Dhaba Fazlika, Kishore Chand Gaj, Darshan Sharma, Tar Singh Barnala, Gurvinder Singh Khamano, Chand Singh Rasoolra Bant Ram Patiala, Subeg Singh Jai Chand Singh Paramjit Singh Jalalabad, Param Chand Bathinda Gurjant Singh Mann, Sinderpal Singh Mansa, Lakhbir Singh Bhagibandar, Jagga Singh Ali Sher, Gurmukh Singh, Tek Chand Vinod Kumar, Jagdish Lal Hoshiarpur, Satyam Moga, Megh Raj Ludhiana, Jaspal Singh, Sukhmander Amargarh, Gurnam Singh Garshankar, among others. The state committee decided that if the demands are not resolved during the meeting, the next protest will be announced on the spot.
