‘Waris Punjab De emerging as first choice among Punjab’s youth’: Bapu Tarsem Singh, Manpreet Singh Ayali
Chandigarh 25 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Akali Dal ‘Waris Punjab De’ on Tuesday inducted former Independent Barnala Assembly bypoll candidate Gurdeep Singh Batth (M.tech Electronics) and noted writer Harpreet Singh Baba Beli (Ph.D Public Administration) into the party, in a move aimed at strengthening its presence in Punjab’s Malwa region.Batth, who contested the Barnala Assembly bypoll as an Independent candidate and has been associated with the Aam Aadmi Party, joined the party along with Baba Beli, a prominent name in Punjab’s literary circles. Baba Beli is known for his writings and for penning the popular spiritual song “Jinna Nu Tu Dissda Oh Koi Hor Hi Akhan Ne”, which has received widespread appreciation. Bapu Tarsem Singh, MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali and Faridkot MP Bhai Sarabjit Singh Khalsa formally welcomed the two into the party and honoured them with siropas.
Speaking on the occasion, Bath said political parties whose leadership was based in Delhi could not adequately safeguard Punjab’s interests. “Punjab has suffered because of a political approach that compromises on the state’s rights and interests. There is a need for a strong political force and leadership that can rise above personal interests and fight for Punjab’s rights,” he said. Baba Beli said Punjab was in need of a leadership with the vision to address issues such as debt, drug abuse and political self-interest.He said ‘Waris Punjab De’ is the only political force currently raising issues concerning Punjab and the Panth.
Welcoming the two into the party, Bapu Tarsem Singh said their experience and commitment to public service would be respected. He also appealed to Punjab’s youth to unite and contribute towards the future of the state. He said Punjab’s youth had demonstrated their ability to serve and defend the country and could similarly play an important role in safeguarding the interests of Punjab through political participation. Manpreet Singh Ayali said that, the party was receiving increasing support from people across Punjab and it is emerging as a preferred political choice among the state’s youth. “The enthusiasm among the youth indicates that Punjab wants a political leadership without vested interests, committed to protecting the broader rights and interests of Punjab and the Panth,” Ayali said.
Faridkot MP Bhai Sarabjit Singh Khalsa said ‘Waris Punjab De’ has emerged as a significant political alternative in Punjab, with people increasingly recognising it as a regional political force representing the state’s interests. He also said the upcoming Panthic gathering at the historic Baba Bakala Sahib would have an impact on the state’s political landscape.
