Livasa Hospital Khanna launches dedicated Vertigo Clinic
Khanna 6 August ( PDL ) : Livasa Hospital, Khanna on Thursday announced the launch of a dedicated Vertigo Clinic. Led by Dr Nitika Mahajan, consultant–neurology and vertigo and epilepsy specialist, the clinic will provide specialised evaluation, accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment for patients experiencing vertigo, recurrent dizziness and balance-related disorders. Speaking during the launch, Dr Nitika said that vertigo is often mistaken for general weakness or dizziness, but the conditions are different.
“Unlike weakness, which is typically experienced as a lack of strength or energy, or general dizziness, which may cause light-headedness or a feeling of faintness, vertigo creates a false sensation of movement or spinning. A person may feel that the room is spinning around them or that they themselves are moving despite being stationary. Episodes may also be accompanied by imbalance, nausea, vomiting or difficulty walking.”
The dedicated clinic has been established to address a common challenge faced by patients with recurrent vertigo and balance problems — delayed or fragmented diagnosis, she informed. Livasa Hospital Khanna is equipped with a multidisciplinary neurosciences team, including Dr. Rajveer Garg, principal consultant–neurosurgeon.
