National Sports Day 2026: Youth and Legendary Sports Personalities of Chandigarh Enthusiastically Participate in “Khelo India Samvad – Khel Ki Baat PM Ke Saath”
Nationwide youth dialogue organized in premier educational institutions of the city under the aegis of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).
International athletes shared experiences of discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship with the youth.
Participants took the pledge of “Nasha Mukt Yuva For Viksit Bharat” (Drug-Free Youth for Developed India).
Chandigarh 27 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the occasion of National Sports Day 2026, the nationwide program “Khelo India Samvad – Khel Ki Baat PM Ke Saath” was organized with great dignity across premier educational institutions in Chandigarh. Organized by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the primary objective of this initiative is to engage the youth with sports, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle to make them active partners in building a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
The program commenced with the live telecast of the virtual address by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the transformation of the country's sports ecosystem over the past decade, youth-led nation-building, and India's resolve to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
Local Youth Dialogues Across Various Institutions Following the national broadcast, interactive sessions with sports stalwarts were conducted across key campuses in Chandigarh:• RGNIYD Regional Centre: Renowned weightlifter Vikas Thakur and para-athlete Rajan Dhakal interacted with the youth, sharing key insights on consistency in sports and achieving success through perseverance.
• Punjab Engineering College (PEC): International shooter Anjum Moudgil discussed global-level competition, mental discipline, and dedication in detail with the students.
• GGDSD College: Star hockey player Gurjit Kaur, para-athlete Babanpreet Kaur, and rowing champion Bhagwan Singh expressed their views on teamwork, strategic thinking, and determination.
• MCM DAV College: International judoka Mehak Singh focused on the importance of mental fortitude and physical efficiency in combat sports.
During the session, a special drive was conducted for youth registration on the MY Bharat digital platform. Along with this, the youth were encouraged to participate in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027 Quiz competition.The program concluded across all venues with a collective pledge for “Nasha Mukt Yuva For Viksit Bharat”.
