RLD Will Raise Chandigarh Vendors’ Issues in Parliament : Trilok Tyagi
RLD Chandigarh President Vidya Shankar Pathak Will Also Meet Administration and Municipal Corporation Officials to Resolve Vendors’ Demands
Chandigarh 8 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : National General Secretary (Organisation) of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Trilok Tyagi, today assured vendors in Chandigarh that RLD National President and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary would strongly raise their issues during the upcoming Parliament session. According to the details, local RLD Vice-President Ram Milan Gaur, who is also the president of the Footpath Cycle and Rehri-Farhi Workers Union, submitted a memorandum to Trilok Tyagi highlighting the vendors’ concerns regarding their proposed relocation by the administration and the threat to their livelihood.
Trilok Tyagi assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with Jayant Chaudhary and urge him to raise the issue in Parliament so that street vendors and rehri-farhi workers are not displaced from their existing locations and deprived of their livelihoods. RLD Media In-charge Vinay Kumar said that Chandigarh Pradesh President Vidya Shankar Pathak also assured the vendors that he would meet Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation officials and take up their concerns with them, with the aim of resolving their demands at the earliest. Meanwhile, a workers’ conference of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Chandigarh, was held under the chairmanship of Chandigarh Pradesh President Vidya Shankar Pathak. RLD National General Secretary (Organisation) Trilok Tyagi was the chief guest. He inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the conference, Trilok Tyagi said that Chaudhary Charan Singh had introduced a system of soil testing in 1954 with the objective of increasing agricultural production. He also played an important role in abolishing a law enacted during British rule that prohibited villagers from walking along canal embankments. He further highlighted Chaudhary Charan Singh’s significant contribution to the establishment of NABARD. Trilok Tyagi said that the organisation of the Rashtriya Lok Dal would be further strengthened across the region on the basis of the vision of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the struggles of Chaudhary Ajit Singh and the leadership of Chaudhary Jayant Singh. He said that direct communication with workers at the village and booth levels, respect for party workers and organisational expansion would remain the party’s priorities.
Trilok Tyagi further stated that the Rashtriya Lok Dal is committed to women’s empowerment as well as protecting the rights and promoting the welfare of all sections of society. On the occasion, Vidya Shankar Pathak called upon party workers to work actively towards strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level. National Secretary Jagtar Singh Bhullar, Punjab Pradesh President Manjit Singh, Punjab In-charge Dilpreet Singh Kohli, Pradesh Vice-President Ram Milan Gaur, Pradesh Vice-President Lalit Bhatia, Chief Pradesh General Secretary Ashok Garg, Pradesh General Secretary Sarabjit Singh, Pradesh General Secretary Dr. Vikas Dhawan, Youth Wing Pradesh President Ravi Jaiswal, Social Justice Forum Pradesh President Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Verma, Office Secretary Rakhi Mehra, along with other senior leaders, office-bearers, workers and a large number of supporters, were present at the programme. During the workers’ conference, discussions were also held on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level, connecting more people with the party and improving coordination among party workers.
