Pawan Gupta’s Message to Punjab Government—Do Not Ignore the Demands of the Hindu Community; Shiv Sena Hindustan to Raise a Strong Voice from Mohali on August 30 in Support of 35,000 Terrorism-Affected Hindus

S.A.S.Nagar 18 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : An important meeting of office-bearers of the Chandigarh and Mohali units of Shiv Sena Hindustan was held in Mohali under the leadership of National President Pawan Gupta. The meeting focused on preparations for the proposed Punjab-level Trishul March from Mohali on August 30. Following the meeting, a press conference was organised during which Pawan Gupta briefed the media about the organisation’s demands and the proposed programme. Pawan Gupta said that Shiv Sena Hindustan has been raising religious, social and political issues concerning the Hindu community in Punjab for a long time. According to the organisation, the lack of adequate attention to these issues has led to disappointment and resentment among the Hindu community. In view of this, Trishul Marches are being organised in different districts, with preparations now underway for a large-scale march from Mohali on August 30.

He said the memorandum proposed to be submitted to the Punjab Government includes major demands such as a special financial package for 35,000 Hindu families affected by terrorism, legal minority status and related rights for Hindus in Punjab, appropriate arrangements for the management of ancient Hindu temples, and a judicial inquiry into killings during the period of terrorism in Punjab along with action against those found responsible. The organisation has also raised demands for strict laws against cow slaughter and cattle smuggling, a national memorial for those who were martyred while fighting terrorism, legal rights concerning Hindu religious symbols, and the establishment of a board for the promotion of Hindi and Sanskrit along with recruitment of teachers in these subjects. The memorandum also includes demands for strict provisions against religious conversion, the formation of a pilgrimage institution board for the development of Mata Kaushalya Ji’s birthplace at Gharam in Patiala and construction of a grand temple complex there, as well as the formation of a traders’ board to protect the interests of the business community in Punjab.
While briefing the media and responding to questions from journalists, Pawan Gupta said that Shiv Sena Hindustan wants the Punjab Government to cooperate rather than ignore the demands of the Hindu community. He said that if the Punjab Government faces limitations in directly fulfilling certain demands, it should join hands with Shiv Sena Hindustan and put pressure on the Central Government so that the minority and terrorism-affected Hindus of Punjab can get justice. He specifically appealed to the Punjab Government to cooperate in securing compensation and a special financial package for terrorism-affected Hindu families from the Central Government. Pawan Gupta said that the organisation is conducting public outreach programmes across various districts of Punjab regarding these demands. Claiming that a large number of members of the Hindu community are expected to participate in the Trishul March from Mohali on August 30, he said the march would be used to convey the organisation’s demands to the government.

Those present on the occasion included Shiv Sena Hindustan Mohali District Incharge Akhilesh Singh, District President B.N. Giri, President Ashwani Chaudhary, Mahila Mandal Mohali President Kiran Jain, Deepak Jain, Ved Prakash Vishwakarma and Punjab General Secretary Krishan Sharma. From the Chandigarh unit, Ajay Singh Chauhan, Dr. Rajkumar Verma, Organisation Minister Murari Lal, Youth Deputy Chief Amit Atwal, Rahul Agrawal and Krishan Chauhan, along with a large number of office-bearers and workers, were also present.
