(Asserts he and the SAD were ready to give any sacrifice for the sake of religious harmony)
(Harsimrat Badal thanks PM Narendra Modi & Home Minister Amit Shah for taking cognisance and assuring full help in the probe)
Nanded/Chandigarh 14 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asserted he would never allow anti- national and anti- Punjab forces to take control of the situation in the State and disturb it’s peace. In his first reaction after suffering a severe injury in an attack in a gurdwara here, the SAD president said “my father Parkash Singh Badal never compromised against these forces, who were prevalent earlier also. As chief minister Badal always maintained communal harmony between all religious communities in Punjab. Respect for all religions was the cornerstone of our State policy”.
Stating that forces inimical to this philosophy had targeted him one and a half years back also in the premises of the Sri Darbar Sahib complex in Amritsar, Sukhbir Badal said “now again I have been attacked in one of the most holiest places associated with Guru Gobind Singh ji”. Asserting that such acts could never scare him and that he would never bow down before these forces, Mr Badal said “we can give any sacrifice for the sake of religious harmony and progress of the country and Punjab. This is and will remain our top most priority”.
Thanking Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj for safeguarding him on his land, the SAD president said “even though the enemies of peace tried their best to eliminate me, Guru Sahab came to my rescue. I thank him with all my heart as I strongly believe in the adage that no harm can be done to those who are blessed by the Guru, try as one might”.
Meanwhile Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal expressed gratitude to Prime minister Narendra Modi for making a personal call to inquire about the health of the SAD president. She also thanked the Prime Minister for taking immediate cognisance of the incident and directing central investigating agencies to coordinate with Maharashtra police in the probe. She also thanked union home minister Amit Shah for reaching out to her during this difficult period and ensuring an effective probe into the painful incident.
