AYUSH Department, Chandigarh Administration Organises Ayurveda Day and Poshan Maah Health Camp at Daddumajra
Chandigarh 23 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : As part of the ongoing Ayurveda Day celebrations and Poshan Maah, the Directorate of AYUSH, Chandigarh Administration, organised a comprehensive community health and awareness camp at the Composite Building, Dadu Majra, Chandigarh. The camp focused on maternal and child health, nutrition, anaemia prevention, yoga and promotion of healthy lifestyle practices. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Director AYUSH, Dr. Atul N. Dhakne, who interacted with beneficiaries and community members during the camp. A special focus was placed on Pregnancy Yoga, which was initiated by the Director AYUSH as part of the Poshan Maah programme. Pregnant women were guided on safe and beneficial yoga practices, healthy lifestyle habits and the importance of maintaining a balanced routine during pregnancy.
The programme also featured lamp lighting in the presence of Lord Dhanwantri, highlighting the traditional significance of Ayurveda and its holistic approach towards health and wellness. During the camp, the AYUSH team conducted a range of health, consultation and awareness activities, benefiting the local community: * Yoga Awareness and Lifestyle Modification: 105 beneficiaries participated in the session and received guidance on yoga and healthy lifestyle practices. * Giloy Distribution and Awareness: 45 beneficiaries were provided Giloy/medicinal plant material along with information regarding its traditional health benefits. * Diet and Nutrition Awareness: Women were counselled on balanced diets, healthy eating habits, adequate nutrition and measures for prevention of anaemia. * Anaemia Screening and BP Monitoring: 64 beneficiaries underwent anaemia screening along with basic health monitoring. * Ayurvedic Consultation: 54 beneficiaries received Ayurvedic consultation, health guidance and medicines. * Homoeopathic Consultation: 51 beneficiaries received Homoeopathic consultation and medicines. * Healthy Lifestyle Pledge: Beneficiaries took a pledge to adopt healthier lifestyle practices and incorporate wellness-oriented habits into their daily lives.
Senior Ayurvedic Physician Dr. Aarti Verma, along with Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic doctors, a Yoga Instructor and other members of the AYUSH team, actively participated in the camp and provided consultation, counselling and health education to the community. The camp aimed to strengthen awareness regarding maternal and child health, nutrition, anaemia prevention, hygiene, yoga and healthy lifestyle practices, while promoting the AYUSH systems as an integral component of preventive, promotive and holistic healthcare. The initiative organised under Poshan Maah and Ayurveda Day reflects the commitment of the Directorate of AYUSH, Chandigarh Administration, towards taking preventive healthcare, wellness services and health awareness initiatives closer to the community and ensuring greater public participation in healthy and preventive living.
