Congress stages massive protest demanding removal of Gyanesh Kumar

Chandigarh 25 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Thousands of Congress workers staged a massive protest here today demanding removal of the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for subverting and sabotaging the electoral process in the country. The protestors were raising slogans against Kumar and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying all of them were in collusion to subvert the electoral process and steal elections. Addressing the demonstration, PCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said that day by day more evidence was cropping up as to how much the CEC was compromised and how much he was colluding with the BJP to help it steal the elections. He said, this has never happened in the history of the country.

“What is seen to be an electoral victory, is actually the theft of the elections (vote-chori)”, he said, adding that this happened in Haryana and Maharashtra. He said, nobody believed that the BJP could win in these two states when it had badly lost there in the parliamentary elections just a few months before. He said the 2024 parliamentary elections were also rigged. Warring reiterated that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Punjab must be scrapped as it was an instrument only to disenfranchise the genuine voters whom the BJP suspected will not vote for it. He said, the ensuing assembly elections in Punjab must be held based on the previous electoral rolls used during the parliamentary elections.

The PCC president also accused the CEC Kumar of denying the right to vote to the first-time voters by making the registration of fresh voters virtually impossible. He said, the strict conditions in the Form-6 for first time voters are humanly impossible to be fulfilled. This is just an attempt to deny the younger generation, the Gen Z, their franchise as the BJP is convinced that they will never vote for it. Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that Rahul Gandhi has been saying it for the last three years that the Election Commission of India was working in collusion with the BJP and they were together rigging the elections.Randhawa said, both the BJP as well as the ECI had been exposed in front of the people of this country. He said, they have caused immense damage to the credibility of elections in the country and it will take a long time to redeem it. He said the first step to repair the damaged and broken electoral system in the country is to remove the current CEC.
