Mid-Day Meal Workers decide to hold state level rally at Sangrur on November 15
Bathinda/Chandigarh 10 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A meeting of the Mid-Day Meal Workers Union Punjab, which works in government schools of Punjab on meager honorarium, was held under the chairmanship of State President Bimla Devi Fazlika. While conducting the proceedings of this meeting, the State General Secretary of the organization, Kamaljit Kaur Hoshiarpur, shared information about the work done by the organization in the past. In the meeting, it was decided to hold a grand state level rally at Sangrur on November 15 as a part of the next struggle. It was decided in the meeting that district/block level rallies will be held from October 11 to 25 to sensitize mid-day meal workers in Punjab about the state-wide struggle and district level meetings will be held from September 16 to 30 to prepare for the struggles.
In the meeting, the leaders jointly demanded that the honorarium be doubled immediately as per the election promise made, that the minimum wage be implemented and Rs. 26000/- be given till it is regularized, that the school head should make alternative arrangements for cooking food when the mid-day meal workers take unexpected leave, that the workers be given two uniforms during the year, etc. It was decided to continuously struggle for the demands listed in the demand letter. Along with this, it was also decided to participate in the program of gheraoing the houses of Punjab ministers on September 12 and 13 under the banner of the Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front and the Joint Employees Forum.
In the meeting, it was decided to attend the state level organizational convention of the Women Employees Coordination Committee to be held in Jalandhar on October 2. In this meeting, Senior Vice President Praveen Bala Fatehgarh Sahib, Vice President Mamta Saidpur Kapurthala, Karamjit Kaur Barnala, General Secretary Kamaljit Kaur Hoshiarpur, Joint Secretary Charanjit Kaur Mahal, Cashier Kamlesh Kaur Ropar, Assistant Cashier Sukhwinder Kaur Tarn Taran, Press Secretary Simranjit Kaur Pasla- Jalandhar, Kulwinder Kaur Mohali, Sibaljit Kaur Faridkot, Karamjit Kaur, Asha Rani, Mahinder Kaur, Hermes Kaur Ropar, Manjit Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur Andheri, Gurjit Kaur Mohali, Jasvir Kaur, Nirmaljit Kaur Gurdaspur, Manjit Kaur besides PSSF State General Secretary Tirath Singh Bassi and State Press Secretary Inderjit Virdi etc. were present.
