Punjab Government Should Work for Punjab’s Progress Instead of Acting Like a Property Dealer : Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Bharpur Singh Dhandra Chandigarh 3 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Senior Vice President of Shiromani Akali Dal Punar-Surjeet, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, and General Secretary, Bharpur Singh Dhandra, in a written press statement, criticized the Punjab Government’s new Land Pooling Policy. They stated that instead of thinking like property dealers and focusing on earning profits, the government should work for the overall development and prosperity of Punjab. They said that Punjab’s population growth is not so high as to justify the development of new residential colonies. Chitkara International School Ranked #1 in Chandigarh, Haryana & Punjab and #5 in India in the Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating 2025–26

Chandigarh 3 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Chitkara International School has added yet another distinguished accolade to its growing legacy of educational excellence by securing the #1 rank in Chandigarh, Haryana & Punjab and the #5 rank in India in the Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating 2025–26 conducted by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India.. The prestigious recognition celebrates the school's exemplary commitment to environmental stewardship, water conservation, sanitation, hygiene, waste management, and sustainable institutional practices, reaffirming its position as a leading educational institution where academic distinction is seamlessly complemented by environmental responsibility.

The Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating recognises schools that have successfully embedded sustainability into the very fabric of institutional life. At Chitkara International School, this vision is strengthened through close collaboration with Chitkara University, enabling students to engage with progressive sustainability practices and interdisciplinary learning, while the school's dedicated Sustainability Centre serves as a vibrant hub for environmental education and innovation. Recognised as a 100% sustainable school, the institution has seamlessly integrated sustainability across its academic framework and campus culture through experiential learning, responsible resource management, thoughtfully designed green practices, and the adoption of recycled and sustainable office supplies and stationery. Student leadership remains central to this commitment through sustainability drives, the SDG Ambassadors programme, and opportunities to serve as Swachhta Ambassadors under the Swachh Bharat Mission, encouraging learners to translate environmental awareness into meaningful action while developing into informed, responsible, and globally conscious citizens.

The distinction reflects the school's outstanding performance across a rigorous framework that evaluates excellence in water conservation, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, infrastructure, environmental education, behavioural change, and Mission LiFE initiatives. Chitkara International School demonstrated exemplary standards through its rainwater harvesting systems, regular water quality testing, accessible and well-maintained sanitation facilities, renewable energy initiatives, water-efficient infrastructure, active Eco Club programmes, and sustained integration of sustainability into teaching and learning. Together, these measures exemplify an institutional culture where environmental responsibility is embedded into everyday operations and educational experiences.

Beyond infrastructure and systems, the school has cultivated a culture in which cleanliness and sustainability are embraced as shared responsibilities by every stakeholder. Systematic waste segregation at source, on-campus composting, responsible disposal of sanitary and non-biodegradable waste, and continuous cleanliness monitoring are complemented by student-led environmental committees and regular awareness initiatives. Best practices such as Nutrition and Herbal Gardens, water audits, plantation drives, Mission LiFE activities, and the promotion of the principles of Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle not only maintain a clean and green campus but also instil lifelong habits of environmental responsibility among students, educators, support staff, and parents.

The achievement reflects the school's enduring commitment to creating educational experiences that extend well beyond the classroom, where values of responsibility, civic awareness, and ecological sensitivity are nurtured alongside academic excellence. By empowering students to appreciate the importance of sustainable living through active participation and real-world engagement, the institution continues to shape future-ready learners capable of leading with purpose and integrity.

Reflecting on this significant accomplishment, Dr Niyati Chitkara, Vice President, Chitkara International Schools, said, “This recognition reflects our belief that sustainability must be woven into every learner's educational journey. At Chitkara International Schools, we are committed to creating environments where environmental responsibility, academic excellence, and social consciousness go hand in hand. This achievement belongs to our students, educators, parents, and support staff, whose shared commitment continues to shape a culture of responsible action and meaningful impact.”

The recognition further strengthens Chitkara International School's standing as an institution that places sustainability at the heart of its educational vision. Closely aligned with the aspirations of the National Education Policy 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the school's approach reflects a deep commitment to preparing learners who are not only academically accomplished but also socially responsible, environmentally aware, and equipped to address the evolving challenges of the twenty-first century.
