Employees and pensioners protest in front of MLA office
‘hk khone bnd kro, vaade pure kro’—Call to make the state-level rally on July 17 a success
S.A.S.Nagar 8 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : As part of the state-level struggle programs announced by the Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front and the Sanjha Employees Forum, hundreds of employees and pensioners of district Mohali today protested vigorously in front of MLA Kulwant Singh’s office, raised slogans against the Punjab government and demanded immediate acceptance of their long-pending demands.
Addressing the protest, state leaders Gurvinder Singh Chandigarh, Sukhchain Khaira, Kartarpal Singh, N. K. Kalsi, Sushil Kumar Fauji, Sukhdev Saini and N. D. Tiwari said that despite four and a half years of the Bhagwant Mann government taking power, not a single big promise made to the employees and pensioners could be implemented. They alleged that the government is also on the path of taking away the benefits given by the previous pay commissions and the rights obtained through struggles.
The leaders said that 37 allowances including rural allowances, border allowances have been discontinued, the promise of restoring the old pension is still unfulfilled, DA installments and other financial rights are being continuously delayed, due to which there is huge resentment among the entire employee and pensioner class. They warned that if the government does not resolve the demands through immediate talks, the struggle will be intensified, for which the government will be fully responsible.
The speakers announced that the state-level rally to be held in Mohali on July 17 will prove to be a decisive show of strength against the government's anti-employee and anti-pensioner policies. They said that thousands of employees and pensioners from Mohali district will participate in the rally and give a clear message to the government that the struggle for their rights will be carried out to completion at all costs. On this occasion, a large number of employees and pensioners from various departments including Manpreet Singh, Tejinder Singh, Amit Katoch, Sahil Sharma, Charanjit Singh, Gurbir Singh, Harnek Mavi, Varinder Kumar, Gurbaksh Singh, Jasbir Singh, Avinder Singh, Gurjit Singh were present.
