SAD demands Harjot Bains and Balbir Singh take accountability for paper leaks and resign

Chandigarh 25 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today demanded the resignation of education minister Harjot Bains and health minister Balbir Singh, asserting both ministers should take accountability for paper leaks under their charge in the same manner in which union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan had resigned in the NEET exam paper leak case. In a statement here, party chief spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler said the Aam Aadmi Party should not practice politics of deceit. “There cannot be two yard sticks for the same issue. While on the one hand Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia demanded the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, they have nothing to say about the repeated paper leaks in Punjab and are yet to remove Harjot Bains and Balbir Singh from the State cabinet”.

Arshdeep Kler said there had been six paper leaks in Punjab in the last four years which had affected more than five lakh students. “Instead of making the concerned ministers accountable, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia has chosen to whitewash the entire issue by lying that there has not been any paper leak during its tenure in government”. Giving details, the SAD leader said in May 2022 the Naib Tehsildar paper was leaked affecting 42,000 students. He said the leak of the TET examination in 2023 affected one lakh students. “Similarly 2.50 lakh students were affected when the class twelve English paper was leaked”. He said in June 2024 the ADO paper was leaked, in December 2025 the paper organized by the Subordinate Services Selection Board and most recently the Pharmacy Officer examination paper were also leaked.

Asserting that this was not the first time AAP had adopted double standards on an issue, Kler said “earlier the AAP government has refused to remove tainted ministers. “Arvind Kejriwal himself refused to resign as chief minister on moral grounds after being jailed on a corruption charge”. He said the party would take the entire issue to the people in the coming days. “We will expose the AAP government for endangering the future of an entire generation due to repeated examination paper leaks ”.
