Tree Plantation Drive Organized at Government College of Education, Sector 20-D on the Occasion of Van Mahotsav

Chandigarh 10 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Parijat Eco Club of Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, organized a Tree Plantation Drive on the occasion of Van Mahotsav to promote environmental conservation and sustainable living. The programme was graced by Surya Chander Kant, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Legal Remembrancer-cum-Director of Prosecution, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he emphasized the importance of tree plantation and environmental conservation for building a sustainable future.

The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Principal, Dr. Sapna Nanda, whose encouragement inspired the successful plantation of 75 saplings across the college campus. The plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from B.Ed. students, the teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and other college employees, who collectively contributed to making the event a success.
A variety of saplings, including shade trees, flowering plants, and fruit-bearing trees, were planted to enhance the green cover of the campus and promote biodiversity. The initiative reflected the institution's commitment to environmental protection and encouraged students to develop a sense of responsibility towards nature. The event concluded with a collective pledge to protect the environment and nurture the planted saplings, reaffirming the college's commitment to sustainability and ecological responsibility.
