IMA Chandigarh Extends Solidarity with IMA Headquarters and IMA Maharashtra Over CCMP Registration Issue

IMA Chandigarh Extends Solidarity with IMA Headquarters and IMA Maharashtra Over CCMP Registration Issue

Chandigarh 6 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Chandigarh, has expressed its full solidarity with the concerns raised by IMA Headquarters and IMA Maharashtra regarding the Maharashtra Government Resolution (GR) dated 3 August 2026, which allows registration of CCMP-certified BHMS practitioners with the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC).

Dr. Anil Kumar, President, IMA Chandigarh, said that IMA Chandigarh fully supports the stand taken by IMA Headquarters and IMA Maharashtra. He stated that any move that blurs the distinction between different systems of medicine or permits dual registration without due statutory approval could have far-reaching implications for the medical profession and public healthcare. This government resolution of registering BHMS student in MMC is illegal, as the matter is subjudice.

Dr. Ramneek Singh Bedi, Former National Vice President, Indian Medical Association, said the decision raises serious concerns regarding patient safety, quality of care, and ethical medical practice. He emphasized that every medical practitioner must practice strictly within the system of medicine for which they are duly qualified, trained, and registered. He further said that any dilution of regulatory standards has the potential to create confusion among patients, undermine confidence in the healthcare system, and compromise established norms of medical education and professional accountability.

IMA Chandigarh has urged the Maharashtra Government to reconsider the Government Resolution in the larger interest of patient safety and to uphold the standards of medical education and professional regulation in the country. It reiterated its unwavering support to IMA Headquarters in safeguarding ethical medical practice and maintaining the integrity of modern medicine.
