Manpreet Singh Ayali Raises Bandi Singhs’ Release, Amritpal Singh’s Transfer During Assembly Session

Chandigarh 4 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal Waris Punjab De leader and Mullanpur Dakha MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali on Tuesday raised the issue of the release of Bandi Singhs and the transfer of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh Khalsa from Dibrugarh Jail during the second day of the Punjab Assembly session. Participating in the discussion in the House, Ayali questioned the continued incarceration of Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences, including Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora, Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara and Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, Bhai Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khera and Bhai Gurmeet Singh Meeta. He said that Centre and the Punjab government should explain why the prisoners continue to remain behind bars despite having served their sentences.

Ayali said that no law permits the continued imprisonment of individuals after the completion of their awarded terms and described the issue as one concerning justice and human rights. He also alleged that while the head of Dera Sacha Sauda has been granted parole on several occasions, Bandi Singhs have not received similar relief.

The Dakha MLA also raised the case of Member Parliament Bhai Amritpal Singh Khalsa, questioning why the Khadoor Sahib MP continues to be lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail despite the National Security Act (NSA) no longer being in force against him. Ayali said, Punjab government is creating obstacles in the matter and repeated adjournments in court proceedings are preventing the MP from attending Parliament and effectively representing the interests of his constituency. He said that Amritpal Singh was being denied the opportunity to utilise parliamentary development funds and raise Punjab-related issues in the Lok Sabha. Calling for immediate action, Ayali demanded that Amritpal Singh Khalsa be transferred to Punjab and allowed to discharge his constitutional responsibilities as an elected Member of Parliament. He also reiterated the long-standing demand for the release of Bandi Singhs who have completed their sentences.
